Reyna is no stranger to the underground music scene and was majorly influenced by his upbringing by his parents and late uncle, El Vaquero, a well known and legendary host of the popular Spanish-Mexican Radio Station, La Raza 98.5. Beyond Reyna’s own musical career and passion for songwriting and production, he is also one of the founding members of Houston’s rising music festival, MAX-STAR FEST which showcases numerous local Texas artists, inclusion of the underground scene, and its community. The live music event hosted by Naco Records will be held on Saturday July 18th, 2026 at Alanis Ranch in Houston, Texas with exciting vendors and attractions from Tacos El Vaquero Arre Lulu, Sour Patch Kids, and The Mechanical Bull. Reyna released his first debut single in March of 2018 with the instrumental track, “Whispers” that features elements of a dark shoegaze and indie rock sound with a rolling kick drum that speaks along to the rigid bass line for an uneasy feel as isolated vocals appear in the background. Soon after, a year later his song, “grl” marks his solo career with a full length song that introduces his breakout with an indie-bedroom pop sound that features a strong rhythmic bassline, airy guitars, and a laid back breezy composition.
Shortly after a year, Reyna released his debut EP, ‘OVERTHOUGHTS’ in March of 2026 that features 4 tracks, “cONDiTiOns”, “iWRRY”, “Maybe Baby”, and “bbyUok?” and establishing himself with a strong introductory collection of work that encapsulates his tentative knowledge and grasp within his musical abilities. The record is a reflection of his anxious moods and overwhelming late night thoughts surrounding his communication, trust, and complications of a relationship that further inflects feelings of vulnerability and insecurity. The first track, “cONDiTiOns” , instantly immersives the listener in a vibrant, synthy, and psychedelic landscape. The production of simmering drums, elongated guitar riffs, and passive percussion creates a trippy and weightless euphoric setting. In extension, shortly after the “OVERTHOUGHTS” EP, Reyna released the single track, “hungry” that is only a minute and 30 seconds that serves as a pillage and transition to his next project that focuses more on experimentation and lo-fi alternative form of R&B with an undertone of his signature bedroom pop. The track takes on a more raw and methodical tone with an atmospheric and hazy illustration that opts further growth within his instrumentation and arrangement that can demonstrate a more closely personal feel for listeners.
Reyna’s grind for experimentation and further creative work is always on the run as a month later a new song was released at the height of summer. “CALC” is the newest single from Reyna that was released on July 14, 2026 which quickly gained momentum online from the moment of its announcement. The track hits a little over a minute but does not fall short in terms of its stylized production, vocal effects, and pop melodic attitude. “CALC” is the epitome of a summer indie-shoegaze soundtrack that carries the true definition of the warmth of sunny skies and an endless view of a cinematic beach scenery. The song begins with a bouncy bassline that takes on inspiration of a 70s disco band with its funky and upbeat groovy approach that sets the mood of the track. A warm and buzzy guitar riff leads the song into a venture of a danceable melody that is aligned with the romance of a summer love within its lyricism. Reyna’s repeated line of “I wanna be with you. I wanna groove with you” sets the intentions of a simmering lovestruck and carefree attitude with the layered and hazy vocals.
